Fila had the license for Alife footwear. The SVP of Design reached out to me and asked if I could design a range of skateboard and lifestyle sneakers. When I moved to NYC, Alife was the coolest underground brand around and highly influential merging the worlds of skate culture, streetwear, and fashion. They always had great branding and vibrant color combinations. I wanted to take those elements into a number of styles ranging from vulcanized to retro influenced cupsoles. The goal was for each style to be versatile enough to stand on either celebrated branding, the ability to mix seasonal colors, or one or two unique and unexpected details so that they are recognizable from a distance and even more interesting up close.
